Storytelling takes many forms.
This piece marks the official launch of a new series where I teach dance artists how to translate their choreography onto canvas—merging movement with visual art. Each piece in this series supports a meaningful cause, with 20% of proceeds from both the original and prints donated to a charity or organization chosen by the collaborating artist.
For this collaboration, I’m honored to work with my close friend and longtime creative partner, Jamie Sharar—a student-turned-instructor, one of the original leaders of the Baddie Program at All The Way Up Studio, and someone who embodies power, strength, versatility and creativity.
The Baddie Program was created to hold space for all people—regardless of background—to show up as they are, move unapologetically, and reclaim their bodies through movement, sexiness, and shared strength.
Now, Jamie (alongside the other OG Baddie, Sarah Danielson) is taking that mission beyond the dance studio—by opening Sisters Books & Nooks, a woman-owned, LGBTQIA+ friendly, witchy, cozy, and inclusive bookstore. A place where stories, weirdness, and community all belong under one roof… just like they always have at ATWUS.
These two incredible women have empowered our dance community for years. Supporting them now as they expand into a new world of literature, identity, and imagination is an absolute joy.
This painting, choreographed to “It’s You” by ATEEZ, is a celebration of movement, K-pop, community, and the magic of showing up fully as yourself.
🎥 Watch our short YouTube video at @MaeBetArts where we share the story behind the painting, the bookstore, and the baddies who made it happen.
🧙♀️ Sisters Books & Nooks opens 9.9.25!
