Artistic Notes:
“Shinzou wo Sasageyo” (心臓を捧げよ)—“Dedicate your heart”—a phrase from one of my all-time favorite anime, Attack on Titan, has always stayed with me.
To me, there’s no deeper act of devotion than giving your heart to yourself—and to your art.
When I heard this song, I was moved beyond words. It became the perfect match for a Jazz Funk piece that invited my students to explore the softness in strength and the grace in vulnerability.
There is beauty in sorrow, in growth, and in how gently we hold space for ourselves.
And with this painting, I gave my whole heart. This is “Call to Silence.”
